Becki Newton

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton grew up at Guilford, Connecticut. She is of English and Czech descent and began performing performances and musicals at local theaters. She later was a student at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a B.A. In European History. Newton took part in his fellow members of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Penn. Newton relocated from Penn to New York City after graduation and started work on television commercials, including Olive Garden. Newton was the lead character Amanda Tanen in the comedy-drama program Ugly Betty from 2006 to in 2010. Newton along with her co-star Michael Urie co-hosted The Official Ugly Betty Blog. Also, she appeared on ABC.com's Mode After Hours webisode series. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010 after four successful seasons that allowed the show an appropriate series conclusion. At the end of 2009, Newton took part in a New York City Center Encores! presentation of the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy, which was produced by Jerry Zaks. Newton portrayed Molly Gray opposite her real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton appeared in Love Bites. The show, which ran for an hour, was conceived by executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked for Sex and the City. NBC announced the continuation of the series in May 2010.However it was cancelled after Newton announcing her pregnancy, co-star Jordana Spiro contractually obligated to keep her existing series My Boys (which ended up being later canceled) and Chupack's intention to quit the show Love Bites was pushed back to mid-season.
